Jonathan Mellen, MD
Dr. Jonathan Mellen is a Board-Certified Gastroenterologist dedicated to providing comprehensive and compassionate digestive healthcare to the Matsu Valley community.
Dr. Mellen manages all general GI disorders, with a particular interest in GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease), Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) and liver disorders. He is highly skilled in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including upper endoscopy, colonoscopy, and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) for the management of biliary disorders.
His extensive medical training spans the country. He began by earning a Bachelor of Science degree in the Biological Basis of Behavior from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. He then received his medical degree from SUNY Downstate College of Medicine in Brooklyn, training at the renowned Kings County Hospital.
Following medical school, Dr. Mellen completed his internal medicine residency at the University of California-Irvine, where he was honored by being selected to serve as Chief Resident. He then completed his subspecialty fellowship in Gastroenterology through the Banner University Medical Center and Phoenix VA Hospital program in Phoenix, Arizona. Dr. Mellen and his family are excited to be a part of the Matsu Valley community and he looks forward to providing high-quality care to patients in the region.
